I began working with animals at age 16, but my love of animals was born with me. I adore the honesty, empathy and unconditional love that animals can give us. Our pets become family members, and when we entrust others to care for our family members, that trust is priceless.  That trust inspired me to spend my time with animals.

I decided to work in pet care after experiencing a pet owner's nightmare.

After returning home from a family holiday, I found my home vandalized, used as a drug den, and robbed. My 4 pets, two dogs and two cats, were confused and terrified.

This damage was done by our pet sitters.

In the aftermath of this experience, I found myself deciding that one day, I would start a business providing the unequivocal devotion and care for the animals who have given me so much.

Part of what has helped me to learn about animal training was my somewhat parallel background as a classroom teacher, having earned the trust of thousands of students and parents over 15 years teaching English in New Jersey, New York and California public schools, I spent most of my days given the responsibility of helping 180 different kids each day. During that time, I kept my interest in helping animals, and my classes raised funds for several struggling animal shelters and foster organizations in the Bay Area.

I also began studying and interviewing petcare specialists and trainers during this time while continuing to study the history and general practices of dog training, culminating in Veterinarian-taught coursework and certification, including first aid, vital sign monitoring, emergencies and common mild to dangerous conditions and behaviors in canines and felines. I have worked with dogs and cats of all ages (including fear-aggressive & food-aggressive dogs). Just like the classroom, even an animal training session requires individual diagnostics and the creation of a behavioral plan to help animal and owner get the best possible outcome.

The name "Hawkeye" is in honor of my grandfather, who imparted upon me our family heritage of respect for nature and for the animal world - knowing that we would have to watch our young ones and loved ones "like a hawk". Because in the big picture, when you are on vacation, or even during an emergency - you want to know there is someone looking after your animals who is responsible and caring.

My goals are safety and caring first. Safety of the animal, the owner, and owner's home. Caring when it comes to helping animals who need training and extra support. It is an honor to care for your animal companions and to earn your and their trust. I look forward to working with you.
